Seventeenth Time (Very) Lucky

Michael B

Spoiler alert: It's happened. It's finally happened. Fifteen teams went jack-potty at The Nightingale this evening as our top prize of £645.00 was finally snapped up after seventeen (yes, SEVENTEEN) weeks!

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. After all, there was the not insignificant matter of a hotly-contested Question One quiz to contend with. As last week, there was a tie for first place, with Teamy McTeamface pipping Leaky Pants to the £40 bar tab with their knowledge of the history of Heinz Baked Beans. Launched in 1901 as it happens, fact hunters.

Appropriately, given the high stakes and even higher levels of tension, there was also a tie in the jackpot round. Lightning Crew and 3 Frogs & 1 Rosbeef were both two away from correctly identifying the 57 millionaires aboard The Titanic. However, the former's "guesstimate" of the length of Maggie Thatcher's tenure as PM earned them the right to pick tonight's envelope.

They plumped for envelope A and the rest, as they say, is quiz-tory. £645.00 richer - not a bad evening's work, Lightning Crew!

Let's do it all again next week ...
